After much deliberation on exactly how the site should be themed, I've finally come to a design decision. This theme was cooked up in about 3 hours worth of work after sketching out the basic concept. Currently, it breaks IE6 because it uses a transparent PNG for the header logo, but given the stats of who views my site, I can live with it for now. I'll fix it later on when I figure out exactly how I want to fix it.

Also, I gave in and decided to use jQuery to fix the uneven columns. It's built in to Drupal, so why not...
